For any fire department, it is in the arena of Operations that the “rubber meets the road”. The Marin County Fire Department operationally serves the public in many fashions ranging from traditional Fire Suppression and Emergency Medical Services to Special Operations and the Tamalpais Fire Crew…and everything in between. Being prepared for anything that the public may ask of us is so important to the Marin County Fire Department that “Operational Readiness” is one of our core values.
Marin County Fire Department provides the highest level of fire protection, well trained personnel and specialized equipment to ensure that we are able to access and suppress fires in all areas of Marin County.
Marin County Fire Department has been providing Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to the residents of Marin since 1965. We continue to bring top quality rescue services with the latest emergency equipment and highly trained officers.
The Emergency Command Center provides dispatching and resource coordination throughout Marin. The ECC is responsible for coordinating the daily staffing, maintaining the fire weather system, and projecting the fire danger index during the summer months.
The Department, as a 'strike team' regularly responds to large wildfires throughout the state. These teams are dispatched when incidents overwhelm the local jurisdiction, requiring large numbers of overhead management personnel.
The Marin County Fire Department serves its community in the “All-Hazards” environment by participating in the Marin County Hazardous Materials Response Team, the Marin County Urban Search and Rescue Team and the Marin County Water Rescue Team.
To pay homage to the members of the Tamalpais Forest Fire Association, the members of the Marin County Fire Department hand crew Adopted the name “Tamalpais Fuel Crew” thus giving birth to a new program within the Department.
