Cascade Canyon Preserve

• Cascade Falls drops 20 feet. Visit when it's running strong in rainy season.
• Upper reaches of San Anselmo, Carey Camp, and Cascade creeks run year round, providing a haven for wildlife.
• Lush broadleaf and evergreen forests keep canyon trails cool and shady, even in warm weather.
• Travel through to adjacent White Hill Preserve and Marin Municipal Water District lands.
• Dogs welcome, but must always be kept on trail and on leash throughout this preserve.

• Wildflowers, unusual native plants, and butterflies are abundant in spring. See magical mushrooms and ferns in winter.
• This is one of the best places to see nearly every species of reptile and amphibian that reside in Marin.
• Lush riparian corridors support several species of butterflies.
• Woodpeckers, flycatchers, and warblers are among the many varieties of birds that thrive here.
• To protect sensitive wildlife species, some areas of Cascade Canyon Preserve are subject to seasonal night closures. Respect trail closure signs.
• Check out the iNaturalist field guide. Add your own observations.

• Parking is very limited, in residential areas adjacent to the preserve, on Cascade Drive and Canyon Road. Be respectful of local residents.
• Stay on roads and trails to preserve sensitive ecosystems and to avoid trespassing on private property. Avoid entering the creeks.
• Be courteous and safety conscious when sharing roads and trails. Go slow and say hello.
• Dress appropriately for the weather. Trails can be muddy during rainy season. 
• Bring water.
• There are no restrooms at this location.
• Steer clear of poison oak.
• After an outing, check for ticks.

From Hwy 101 in Larkspur, take the exit for Sir Francis Drake Blvd west to Fairfax 3.4 miles. Turn left onto Pacheco Ave, turn right onto Broadway and make first left onto Bolinas Rd 0.4 miles, slight right onto Cascade Dr (at the stop sign) continue about 1.5 miles to the gate (dead end).

Limited street parking only. Please be respectful of local residents. Parking can be difficult on busy weekends and holidays. If there is no parking on Cascade Drive, there is an alternate trailhead at the end of Canyon Road.

• No smoking or fires.
• Weapons and hunting prohibited.
• Motorized vehicles prohibited. (Individuals with qualified disabilities may operate certain kinds of zero-emission mobility devices on some roads,multiuse trails, and certain other facilities.)
• Everyone must yield the right-of-way to horses. Bikes must also yield to pedestrians.
• No model airplanes, drones, or other self-propelled crafts.
• Permit required for commercial use and groups of more than 15 people.
• Dispose of waste property. Pack it out.
• All resources are protected. Do not follow, approach, or feed wildlife.

DOGS

• Dogs must be leashed at all times. Leash must not exceed 6 feet in length.
• Leashed dogs are only allowed on signed fire roads and trails. Off-fire road and off-trail use prohibited.
• Individuals accompanying dogs are required to clean up and remove pet waste.
• A maximum of 3 dogs per person is permitted. No commercial dog walking.

BIKES

• Permitted on signed fire roads and trails designated for multiuse and hikers/bikes.
• Off-fire road and off-trail use prohibited.
• Speed limit is 15 mph or less. Must slow to 5 mph when passing others or around blind turns.
• Electric bicycles are not permitted.

HORSES

• Permitted on signed fire roads and trails designated for multiuse and hikers/horses.
• Off-fire road and off-trail use prohibited except when watering or resting the horse.
