McInnis Skatepark

• Skateboards, inline skates, and nonmotorized scooters are welcome at the skatepark.
• There's a trailhead at the skatepark parking lot. Take your dog for a walk (on leash) while the kids skate or scoot.
• Watch the Parks events calendar for ranger-led instructional classes and friendly competitions.

• Safety gear–helmet, elbow pads, and knee pads–required.
• Young children must be accompanied by an adult.
• Be aware of all the skatepark rules.

McInnis Park address is 310 Smith Ranch Road, San Rafael. From Highway 101 in San Rafael take exit 456 for Smith Ranch Road east approximately 0.7 mile. Drive over the railroad tracks and immediately turn left to stay on Smith Ranch Rd. The park entrance is at the end of Smith Ranch Rd. After entering, take the road left up to the skatepark.

Planning a skate party? Groups of 20 or more need a $30 short term use permit. This can be requested in person from a park ranger on site, or in advance. Use of a skate park picnic table cannot be reserved. Picnic table use is first come, first served.

• Wear commercially manufactured safety gear in good condition - helmet, elbow pads, and knee pads.
• Use the skatepark at your own risk. The County of Marin is not liable for injuries. (Skateboarding is a “hazardous recreational activity” per California Government Code 831.7.)
• All visitors must abide by Parks staff instructions at all times.
• Skate within your abilities. Progress slowly. Beginners should use the marked beginner area.
• Skate safely. Take turns, look both ways before dropping in, avoid collisions.
• No contests, except contests officially authorized by Marin County Parks.
• Be respectful and courteous - no fighting, profanity, abusive language, or disruptive behavior. More advanced skaters should be helpful to beginners.
• Skate through features. Don't stop at an edge or bowl bottom. Clear landing areas quickly.
• Rest on benches, not the skate park.
• No skating outside the skatepark, in the parking lot, on sidewalks, curbs, or near entrance areas.
• Spectators stay outside the skatepark.
• Children under age 6 must be accompanied by an adult.
• Watch your equipment and other belongings. The County of Marin is not responsible for personal property.
• No food, drink, smoking, or alcohol allowed inside the skatepark.
• No dogs in the skatepark. Dogs are welcome on leash or under voice control in many other areas of McInnis Park.
• No bicycles in the skatepark.
• No graffiti, tagging, or other defacing of the skatepark. This will result in closure of the facility.
• Do not build on or modify skatepark features.
• When the skatepark is closed, do not enter. That's trespassing.
• Tell Parks staff if you see any unsafe conditions inside or outside the park.
• The skatepark is open during park hours. (Marin County Parks reserves the right to change the park schedule as necessary.)
• Groups of 20 or more people must make an advance reservation. Learn more about group reservations.

• Keep the park clean and litter-free. Use garbage cans provided, and carry out all your belongings.
• Dogs must be under the direct and immediate control of a responsible person. In most areas of the park, dogs can be kept under voice control. Leash no longer than 6 feet long must be kept in hand.
• Dogs must be kept on leash along the levee path. Do not allow dogs to disturb marsh habitat.
• Dogs are not allowed in tennis courts, with the exception of service animals as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act.
• Individuals accompanying dogs are required to clean up and dispose of pet waste.
• Keep the park peaceful. Loud noise and amplified music are not allowed.
• No smoking, campstoves, or campfires. Fires are only allowed within designated BBQs.
• No firearms or weapons of any kind.
• No operating or landing aircraft of any kind, including drones.
• No alcoholic beverages.
• No camping or overnight stays.
• Groups of more than 20 people must make an advance reservation. Learn more about group reservations.
• Some park locations may require permits for commercial use, including tours, classes, camps, film, or photography. Learn about permit applications.
• Fishing is allowed subject to regulations of California Fish and Game, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, and Marin County Parks. No live bait. Valid fishing license required.
• Do not follow, approach, or feed wildlife.
