Project Description

The applicant requests Coastal Development Permit approval to construct a new, permanent domestic water well which would entail drilling three exploratory borings to determine water availability on a developed lot in the unincorporated community of Inverness. According to the submitted application materials the boring locations, identified as “Well Site” and “Alternative Well Site” on the site plans, maintain setbacks in excess of 100 feet from all property lines. The submitted application materials do not contain sufficient information regarding the domestic water well infrastructure to be installed upon establishment of one of the boring locations as a domestic water well. The proposed development also includes various other improvements, which involve trenching to install one of three alternative water lines (depending on the final boring location chosen for the well) to connect the new domestic water well to an existing pump house and other infrastructure. Additionally, one of three electrical lines will be installed to connect the new domestic water well to the nearest electrical connection at the nearest residential structure.

Coastal Development Permit approval is required pursuant to Section 20.68.060(G) of the Marin County Coastal Zoning Code because the project entails the construction of a water well.
