Welcome to the County of Marin Department of Finance's website. Our goal is to make the financial information we provide to the residents and taxpayers of Marin County more readily accessible and easy to understand. Our staff have worked hard to provide you with online services that provide useful information about our office, our work and our fiduciary obligation to safe-keep the County's financial resources. The Director of Finance is appointed by the Board of Supervisors. Established under California Government Code 26980-26990, the consolidated office of Department of Finance is responsible for the powers and duties of the offices of the Auditor, Controller, Tax Collector, Treasurer, and Public Administrator. These state-mandated functions are governed by the California Revenue and Taxation Code, Government Code, Code of Civil Procedures, and Probate Code. The Director of Finance also serves as the County's Chief Investment Officer with fiduciary responsibility of all funds held in the County Treasury.
